What: Bloom Night
When: Tuesday, July 18, from 6:00pm-12:00am
Where: Tohono Chul Gardens, 7366 N Paseo Del Norte, Tucson, AZ 85704
One night each summer, something spectacular happens in the Tohono Chul gardens in north Tucson: the mass blooming of over 350 night-blooming Peniocereus gregg, or Queen of the Night. With the largest collection of Peniocereus gregg in the nation, Tohono Chul is undoubtedly a spectacular space to witness the annual bloom of over 300 magnificent white flowers. You might not believe your eyes as you watch these gorgeous, palm-sized flowers bloom atop of what otherwise look like dead sticks.
The lifespan of each Peniocereus gregg is so short that, by the time the sun is rising over our heads tomorrow, the flowers will begin to wilt and disappear. And so, unless you want to wait until next summer to see the beautiful blooms, head to Tohono Chul to meet “her majesty,” the Queen of the Night, tonight!
Tickets to Bloom night are reasonably priced at $5 per person, while members and children under the age of 12 get in free. Food will be available for purchase at both the Garden Bistro and the concession stands throughout the gardens. Tickets will be available at the door.
See you there!
