Can't Miss Meals

Author’s note: This is by no means a comprehensive list of all of the wonderful local Italian food in Tucson. Rather, these are Italian dishes that Edible Baja Arizona has written about and enjoyed since we began telling the stories of food and culture in Baja Arizona in 2013. Please feel free to share with us your favorite local Italian food!

Spaghetti with Meatballs at Roma Imports: What’s more Italian (or at least, American Italian) than a plate piled high with spaghetti and meatballs? At Roma Imports, the classic dish comes with “traditional soft beef meatballs piled on pasta, all flavored with a rich, sweet marinara.” $7.99. 627 S Vine

Minestrone at Scordato’s Pizzeria: Spinach, tomatoes, celery, chicken, white beans, carrots, potatoes, and pasta are simmered in a light broth until minestrone perfection is reached. Order it alongside the eggplant parmesan for a lovely, well-rounded meal. 4911 N Stone Avenue

Chicken Parmigiano at Zona 78: Golden-crusted chicken breast is served over a bed of garlic butter penne and zippy marinara sauce, then topped with bubbly house-made mozzarella cheese. $17.50. 7301 E Tanque Verde Road

Cannoli at Jozarelli’s Italian Street Food: The homemade cannoli from Jozarelli’s Italian Street Food are everything you could hope for in a good canoli: a crisp, fresh shell filled with ricotta cream that’s sweetened just enough. Don’t forget to get a few extra to go!
