I decided to step out of the room where I do a lot of photography and push myself to try taking some photos outside of my little world. I didn’t have to go far – just next door, in fact.
She began making homemade cookies at the age of twelve with her grandmother in Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY. She would spend hours in the kitchen of her family home helping to prepare cakes, fruit pies and all sorts of cookies from scratch.
”I absolutely love what I do. I have a passion for baking and putting smiles on peoples faces. It’s really a great feeling,” Alesci said.
Alesci has her tried and true recipes, but enjoys creating new ones. Her inspiration for these Orange Date Pecan Muffins came to her when she saw the gorgeous blood oranges while shopping at the Rillito Park Farmers Market.
Many of the ingredients for these muffins are locally sourced. The eggs are from Mustang Mountain Farm; the flour from Country Harvest Pantry; the Blood Oranges from Super Natural Organics; the pecans and dates from Incredible Snacks.
