When it comes to cold alcoholic beverages, I typically steer myself towards local beer or bottle of wine. However, when I do decide to go for the hard stuff, it has to be good. As in, Minty Melon Mojitos good.
Tucson CSA has been straight up spoiling its members with heirloom melons this summer. I’m talking canary melons, sun jewel melons, honey dew melons, and watermelons. Each melon variety has its own unique texture, taste, and look, and I’ve had fun coming up with new ways to add them to smoothies, fruit salads, and cocktails. After tasting the perfectly sweet honey dew melon from this week’s share, I knew what had to be done. I
sent politely asked my partner to go to Plaza Liquors to get a bottle of white rum (he succeeded), made honey simple syrup for the first time (I succeeded), and tracked down a bundle of the most fragrant mint from the Santa Cruz River Farmers’ Market. Finally, I was ready to make Minty Melon Mojitos.
Once I had gathered my ingredients, making these Minty Melon Mojitos was quite easy and took only ten minutes from start to finish. Which is great because when you need a drink, you need a drink, you know? Minty Melon Mojitos are great for summer parties, poolside lounging, or hibernating inside with a good book. Enjoy!
