When: Thursday, September 17, from 5:30pm-7:30pm
Where: Watershed Management Group’s Living Lab and Learning Center
1137 N Dodge Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85716
Watershed Management Group invites Sabino Creek lovers of all ages to come together and help write a new story for Sabino Creek–one of abundance and year-round flowing waters–at WMG’s Living Lab and Learning Center, on Thursday, September 17, from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
The evening will mix memories of Sabino Creek as it was in years past with inspiration for the restored creek to come, and include information for how attendees can get involved with WMG’s Restore Sabino Creek campaign. The highlight of the evening will be an river revival all-ages puppet show, performed by Puppets Amongus and presented courtesy of the Community Water Coalition.
Community members are invited to add their own stories, either by submitting photographs and memories through WMG’s website (submissions accepted through Monday, 9/14), or through preparing stories to tell the night of the event. Memories and photographs submitted in advance will be printed out and displayed at the event. Those wishing to share large photo collections or high quality video of Sabino Creek should contact Karilyn Roach. Attendees telling stories at the event will have the opportunity to record their story using the StoryCorps app, which adds their recording to the StoryCorps library, an oral history archive incorporating over 45,000 interviews recorded throughout the United States.
