What: Pumpkin Smash
When: Saturday, November 5th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Where: Las Milpitas, 2405 S. Cottonwood Lane, Tucson, AZ 85713
So you had a family outing to one of the local pumpkin patches, spent the entire day trying to pick the perfect pumpkin and now your friendly jack-o-lantern face has morphed into some sort of wilted, maniacal jack-o-fright and you can’t wait to get rid of it. Well, your local Community Food Bank has you covered! The Pumpkin Smash will be a great event for the entire family! Bring your pumpkins to compost, smash or launch in the catapulting competition – all of which sound like fantastic ways to discard of unwanted pumpkins. There will be live music, pumpkin recipe samples, and plenty of kids activities.
Come out to the Pumpkin Smash and learn more about gardening and sustainability organizations and some of the wonderful programs the Community Food Bank has to offer. This is also a great opportunity to check out Las Milpitas de Cottonwood if you’ve never been. Las Milpitas is a community farm that provides educational opportunities, capacity building, and a place for area residents to grow their own food.
Some of the organizations at this mini garden fair will include:
Food Conspiracy Co-op
Café 54 Food Truck
Tanks Green Stuff Organic Compost
Tucson Organic Gardeners
Tucson Village Farm
Caridad Community Kitchen
Pima County Department Environmental Quality
