What: Sonoran Shindig: A Celebration of the Sonoran Desert
When: Saturday, March 18, from 10:00am to 3:00pm
Where: Downtown Plaza, Ajo, Arizona, just 14 miles north of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Spring cleaning is great, but the Sonoran Shindig is way more fun! Celebrate springtime in the desert at the Sonoran Shindig in Ajo this weekend! Ajo’s beautiful downtown plaza will celebrate the blooming desert with music, dance, food, crafts and a desert photo exhibit. You’ll also be able to talk with folks from the National Parks Conservation Association and other desert conservation groups and land managing agencies to ask questions about their conservation efforts and learn what they’re doing to advocate for the Sonoran Desert and its protection.
After you’re done eating and dancing at the Sonoran Shindig, head a mere 14 miles down the road to enjoy the incredible wildflowers in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, where, according to the National Parks Conservation Association, “abundant winter rains have all but guaranteed an explosion of color this year.” Now that’s the perfect way to welcome spring to the Sonoran desert! For more information, visit the event page on the National Parks Conservation Association’s website.
See you there!
